This project was kind of frustrating for me, partly because trying to direct a cat is just an exercise in futility, and partly because the lighting seemed to change all the time. I filmed my cat for a few minutes and then isolated a few clips where she's not intersecting herself. I then created a mask for each layer and animated them. I thought I could get away with not making the mask exactly outline her shape, but as you can see in the clip, the lighting in the background changes slightly so you can see where the mask it. I added some feathering to the mask to make the edges less harsh.

love the cats, but i didn't notice any lighting changes. your just being a perfectionist! :P
ReplyDeleteThe drums give it this strange tribal quality, I was almost tense. The masks could use a little tweaking, but the execution is good. Nice work.
